The princess sat alone in her dark grey room high atop the
Castle of Everdull. Day after day she wished she could go and
see something different, something more exciting than dark grey
all the time. Her walls were bare and lit by candles but even the
candles were unexcited about the light they gave. All they did
was light up the dullness of the grey rooms.
In them, the princess dreamt of a beautiful valley full of flowers of
every colour.
